Our technical assessment

The special strength of the GSM-FLEX does not lie in an extremely long battery life, but in the flexibly positionable external microphone. In concealed installations, it is often not just the sensitivity of the microphone that determines speech intelligibility, but above all its position. A microphone enclosed in the housing can be significantly more dampened by plastic, coverings, or other components.

The externally routed flex microphone, on the other hand, can be specifically positioned towards an existing sound opening. This makes this model particularly suitable for installation situations where the actual GSM module should remain hidden, but the microphone can be placed as close as possible to an acoustically favorable spot.

With dimensions of only 40 × 23 × 15 mm, the device remains very compact. The built-in 400 mAh battery allows up to 12 days of standby, but the active operating time is a maximum of about 180 minutes. For very long unattended operations without recharging options, our long-term GSM models with larger batteries are therefore the better choice. However, if small dimensions and a specifically optimizable microphone position are in the foreground, the GSM-FLEX offers a significant technical advantage.
