GSM bugs are becoming increasingly popular

After the classic bugs, which have a limited range, the advanced GSM bugs are on the rise. Since it was only a matter of time before bugs also evolved, this is not particularly surprising. The biggest advantage of GSM bugs compared to 'normal' bugs is that they work via the mobile network and therefore have no spatial limitations. Until now, bugs worked via radio signal, which greatly limited the range.

Worldwide eavesdropping with GSM bugs

The new feature of GSM bugs opens up unforeseen fields of eavesdropping and surveillance. Like all listening devices, bugs are not allowed to be used to eavesdrop on strangers without permission. However, merely possessing the bugs is not (yet) prohibited. Therefore, you are not allowed to use the bugs to listen to non-public conversations. This is punishable by law. However, you can use your GSM bug, for example, to monitor objects. Do you have a vacation apartment on the other side of the world and suspect that the property manager is renting it out without your knowledge? Then install a GSM bug and you can easily and at any time listen in on the apartment and hear if someone is present. There are different approaches with the appropriate GSM bugs. Either the bug notifies you as soon as a noise occurs, or you simply call the bug on a mobile number and connect live. Both variants happen completely silently. Thus, there is no indication for the person being eavesdropped on that they are being listened to.
